As the very nice flight attendant found out about my online wine collection he immediately offered to serve another bottle. This time expectations were higher and the result: same level, tannin kicked in a bit more, less fruity and as expectations were driven higher actual grade fell to 3/5. Made by Znovin Znojmo. I was offered another glass of Frankovka CSA edition and I had to turn down as I had to drive to the airport.
Served on board Czech airlines (CSA), very cold serving in plastic glass on board a very noisy and crampy CSA drove expectations lower, but the first sip just shot the experience through the roof. Full, fruity 4/5 by Habanske sklepy.
Very good, well balanced red Peperino. 4/5 While TeruzziePuthod.it site was still down, DiWineTaste.com is commenting it like this: "Peperino shows a brilliant ruby red color and nuances of ruby red, moderate transparency. The nose denotes intense, clean, pleasing and refined aromas that start with hints of black cherry, blackberry and raspberry followed by aromas of blueberry, violet, rose and vanilla."
Unfortunately this fine red by Reja from Goriška Brda was not memorized as it was quickly overridden by Merlot and Modra Frankinja and on top of it all of them were served in plastic glasses. Office serving doom.
Blaufränkisch with nose below mouth with extended tanin stretch. 3/5 prestige made by Vinska Klet Krško. Photo blurred as was the situation in the office in the last days of 2008.
A fine Bagueri branded Merlot by Wine Cellar Goriška Brda. Nose above mouth. 4/5 Experience downgraded due to plastic glasses. Served in office. On yet another one of those special days.
Superb Syrah by Adega de Pegoes from Portugal. Strongest nose ever. Syrah with character. Strong at that. Tanin-o-rama. Served in ABC Slow Food in Belgrade. 4/5
A great red (Merlot, Cabernet, Syrah) made by Bessa Valey in Bulgaria, influenced by German Count Stephan von Neipperg who was transplanted to France. A superb EU combination. Served in ABC Slow Food in Belgrade. 4/5
An OK vernaccia by Teruzzi & Puthod. It takes a while to fully develop nose and tongue. And not fully, too. "The quality of our wines is guaranteed worldwide" - from the bottle. So was www.teruzzieputhod.it that does not work (at the time of this blog posting).
A very nice Rose by Santomas. At the beginning it wants to smell like Cviček, but than the taste takes the experience to another level. 3/5. Fancy as the Fancy House that was supposed to happen in Playa - where CasmeRe was served - later that evening.
A nice, light cuvee from Stredoslovenska wine region in Slovakia, made by Movino. Not much to talk about, but easy drinkable nonetheless. With Slovak quite low expectations do the trick of the ultimate satisfaction at the end of the day.
Blend of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan from Montagne d'Alaric in Corbieres, made by Chateau Mansenoble. Great wine, carrying great expectations, hence missing a kick, leading to almost disappointment. But let's not get carried away in sophistication, or should we?
Magnificent famous Zlata Radgonska sparkling - this one in Rose edition - by Radgonske Gorice winery. 5/5 Take it for best occasions. Served to us at Maxi for their 37th birthday.
A below average white table wine by Gaube from Svečina near Maribor, that I suspect otherwise might have also pretty good ones in stock. Served in Laterna.
Very good and sexy Rosé by Guerila, one of the coolest wine brands in Slovenia. Way to go! Let the brand image match the wine quality and vice versus. Served in Vipolže.
Served to us (albeit a bit late in order, but on the house) at Klinec Homestead in Medana. Nevertheless, a great place, great food, great wine. Very natural.
Very good red (60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc) by Klinec. The name quela is from Tressette card game. Served to us at Klinec Homestead in Medana. Great place, great food, great wine. Very natural.
