Semi-dry white, produced With Sun and Love by Vino Kupljen, belonging to Ljutomer-Ormoz district of the recently modified and renamed Štajerska Slovenijawine region. Served to us in Abecedarium in Ljubljana.
Another red from Jakončič (Jakoncic) from Goriška Brda. This Modri pinot 2006 was served to us in Cubo in Ljubljana. Getting closer my goal, which is to see and publish all Jakončič wines. Wines.si is a good resource about wines in Slovenia.
A nothing special Cabernet-Merlot from Vinska Klet Goriška Brda. This bottle is not even featured on their website. Served to us at Egoist in Ljubljana, a Lounge Bar without website. Boring.
Rumeni Muškat 2006 made by Vino Fabijan. Very good wine. Their main website did not work at the time of posting, but sub-site did work, just to get a feeling of who and where they are. Served to us in Galeb in Bresternica.
A very good late harvest (= pozna trgatev) Chardonnay from Vino Fabijan winery from Jakobski Dol in Slovenske Gorice in Slovenia. Unfortunately their website was screwed up at the time of posting. A lean 375ml bottle was served to us in Galeb in Bresternica.
Cvicek (Cviček) is a typical, somewhat weird, sour wine mix from Slovenia. Vinska Klet Krško is supposedly making a very good one, though I don't really like any of them. Served at home. A gift, of course. "Cviček is a synonym for the Dolenjska region and Slovenia, a true ''wine specialty'' which embodies and presents all the qualities of its land of origin - Dolenjska. Cviček p.t.p. is made from the reddish, red and white grape varieties produced in the winegrowing district of Dolenjska. The largest producers of cvièek are organised in cooperative Konzorcij cviček, z.o.o."
Traminec. Sweet wine. Good wine. The one made by Radgonske gorice winery is one of the best in Slovenia. Black label is not easy to miss. Served to us at Luigi in Ljubljana.
Mavrud is a typical and quite famous sort of red wine from Southern part of Bulgaria. This was a very good bottle of a 2003 Special Reserve made by Assenovgrad winery. They took the liberty of taking mavrud.com domain name for their website. I smell a trademark issue coming up. It was served to us in Manastirska Magernitsa in Sofia.
Blauer Zweigelt Cuvée from family run Ewald Gruber winery in Röschitz, Austria. Wine from Retz hills a.k.a. Retzer Weinberge. Served on Austrian Airlines flight to Sofia.
Halozan (Haložan) Cuvée has recently been re-branded, together with the whole image of Ptujska Klet winery. Pollus is now the new name that their wines are known for. Halozan is a young and fresh blend of white wines that is often mixed with sparkling mineral water. It was served to us in Operna Klet in Ljubljana. Twice :)
